Desde logo, vale destacar que listas são listas. Trazem sua carga de informação, mas também uma alta carga de subjetivismo. Esta, como qualquer outra, não visa trazer verdades, nem ser absoluta. Sofre por não ser completa, pois há sempre lançamentos aos quais ou daremos maior/melhor atenção adiante, ou que sequer descobrimos de fato ainda - eis que deixemos a eterna e deliciosa experiência da descoberta para o futuro!

- belas empreitadas de ANTON JOHANSSON (Andromeda, The Codex) e da revelação REIGN OF THE ARCHITECT, que conta com membros do antigo - e excelente! - AMASEFFER, assim como de outra revelação do ano, o israelense OMB (que lançou em 2013 o debut "SwineSong")

- percebo a consolidação do VULTURE INDUSTRIES como grupo inventivo e de forte apelo teatral. Quem era mestre nesta seara, porém, é ARJEN LUCASSEN, que apresentou certa QUEDA criativa com seu épico projeto AYREON. Mesma (ou maior) queda apresentada pelo DREAM THEATER (lista abaixo) após a saída de Mike Portnoy, embora com ligeira melhoria neste novo álbum auto-intitulado

- destaques para CARCASS, MELVINS, SEPULTURA (sempre!), VOIVOD, ROB ZOMBIE e o retorno do TOMAHAWK de Mike Patton e Trevor Dunn

- DECEPÇÕES amargas com: MEGADETH (a ótima faixa-título "Super Collider" mascara um disco chato, SEM inspiração, peso ou criatividade); MINISTRY (bom disco, mas tratava-se de uma banda por demais ousada, e que hoje se contenta com MAIS DO MESMO); e ambos os QUEENSRYCHE (não se chuta Geoff Tate da banda se for para colocar alguém que soe como ele, mas com um som tão MENOS criativo. Por outro lado, Tate teve a chance de dar sua resposta, mas não o fez à altura, com um disco MELHOR que o do "rival", mas ainda assim SEM GRAÇA)

- SERJ TANKIAN (System Of A Down) lançou um disco delicioso, mas de sonoridade muito diversa da do SOAD ou do restante de sua carreira solo, indo para o campo do prog/jazz. Vale o registro, sendo que ainda participou em canções do REVOLUTION HARMONY (de Devin Townsend e Ihsahn, ainda sem disco) e do exímio rapper TECH N9NE

- não se citou clássicos como MOTÖRHEAD e BLACK SABBATH, até pela grandeza de ambas, e de quem não se pode cobrar grandes inovações a esta altura da carreira. Em relação ao Sabbath, fica o destaque apenas pelo retorno, pelo mestre Iommi em forma e pela maravilhoso single (e capa) de "God Is Dead"
